Consistent Early Effort, Late Slump Max started his race with strong pacing, maintaining a steady pace in the early miles and securing top positions, even achieving 1st place overall at one point. His fastest split was at mile 16 with a time of 4:47. Up to mile 12, he maintained an exceptional pace of around 5:21 min/mile, consistently staying in the top positions of his division. In the final miles from mile 21 onwards, there was a noticeable slowdown with splits above 6:00 min/mile, particularly mile 23 at a 7:33 pace and mile 25 at an 8:39 pace. His final race time of 2:35:58 showed a differential from his previous marathon time of 2:30:29. Maintaining focus on the latter part of the race could bring significant improvement to sustain his early momentum until the finish.
