In August 2015, Mackenzie Madsen became one in six million when she was diagnosed with a rare lung disease, Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease (PVOD). Having PVOD means that Mackenzie’s lung function will steadily decrease and, without a double lung transplant, will ultimately prove fatal. At the time of diagnosis, she was merely 28-years-old; a life of love and home and children along with service and wild adventure still ahead of her - waiting to be explored, waiting to be shared.

Join us in the Brave Little Lungs 5K, set among the beautiful backdrop of Thanksgiving Point's gardens. Attending the event will be BYU football's head coach Kalani Sitake as well as University of Utah's Kyle Whittingham, who will both provide first, second, and third place prizes, donated from their respective athletic departments. Breakfast, provided by Kneaders, Einstein Bagels, and Smith's Marketplace will be available for 5K participants and all event proceeds will benefit Mackenzie Madsen's charitable fund.
