Steady Improvement with Strong Divisional Placement Alfredo Lopez from Seattle completed the 2025 Whidbey Island Half Marathon with a time of 1:32:42, achieving an average pace of 7:04 min/mile. Maintaining consistency, his splits ranged from a brisk 6:13 in the first mile to a steady 7:11 by the tenth mile before picking up the pace again in the final three miles. It's noteworthy that his quickest split was the first, at 6:13, which placed him second overall at that stage. Compared to last year's performance at the same event, Alfredo improved his half marathon time by over three minutes. Notably, he secured a first-place divisional rank early on at mile two, and sustained strong divisional placing throughout the race, finishing fourth among the M30-34 age group out of a total of 612 participants. Alfredo's consistent pace in the latter half of the race suggests a solid race strategy, although finding ways to maintain pace during the middle sections could enhance overall performance further.
