Consistent Pacing with Strong Finish Alice Erwin's performance at the 2025 Whidbey Island 5K showcased impressive pacing and a strong finish. At only 10 years old, Alice maintained an overall pace of 8:03 min/mile over the 3.1-mile distance. She started with a split time of 8:06 and kept a steady pace in the first mile, showing controlled execution. Her second mile observed a slight deceleration with an 8:59 split time, yet she quickly picked up momentum in the final stretch with a remarkable 7:08 split. Concluding the race with a total time of 24:58, Alice successfully secured 3rd place in the female category out of all participants and was the top finisher in her division, ages 10-14. She demonstrated a strong sense of competitive pacing, especially with her improved speed in the last mile.
