Strong Mid-Race Gains Clinch Division Win for Devyn Devyn States delivered an impressive performance in the 2025 Whidbey Island Marathon. Notably, his overall pace improved significantly after the first mile, completing the race with an average pace of 7:49 min/mile. He showed remarkable consistency, with a majority of his miles clocking in below his overall average pace. Devyn climbed from 11th to 5th overall, marking a noteworthy ascent across the race, and his strategic pacing secured him the 1st place finish in the M25-29 division among 229 participants. Early on, Devyn adjusted his pace effectively, transitioning from a 10:04 min/mile in the first mile to consistent sub-8:00 paces from mile 7 onwards. Particularly standout miles include mile 23, completed in just 6:20. A constructive focus for future improvement could be managing the pace in the early miles.
