Consistent Performance with a Strong Finish Blake Cannon demonstrated consistent pacing during the 2025 Whidbey Island 5K. Starting with an 8:26 pace for the first mile, Blake maintained this momentum through the second mile with only a slight increase to an 8:27 pace. Notably, Blake accelerated in the final mile, achieving a split pace of 7:32, which significantly boosted his pace to 8:07 over the entire 5K. Finishing with an impressive 25:10 time in a field of 329 participants, Blake secured 12th overall and landed 8th among male competitors. His performance stood out in the M35-39 division, where he captured 2nd place. The steady pace throughout and the strategic acceleration in the last mile are commendable. Focusing on maintaining that increased speed from the final mile throughout could further enhance future performance. Overall, Blake's execution and split times indicate a solid race strategy.
