Consistent Performance with Room to Refine Splits Lucas Gruenwald performed admirably in the 2025 Whidbey Island Half Marathon, finishing with a time of 1:34:38 at an overall pace of 7:13 min/mile. He secured 2nd place in his division (M15-19) among 612 participants. His initial miles displayed a strong start, with a first-mile split of 6:36 that saw him claim the leading position in his age division. By mile three, his pace slightly decreased, recording a 7:07 min/mile, which placed him 2nd in his division. Lucas maintained a consistent pace for the majority of the race. However, miles 7 and 8 revealed opportunities for enhanced pacing strategies, with times of 9:07 and 7:56. A commendable recovery in his last mile, clocking in at 6:39, helped Lucas climb back to top positions. Comparing this to last year's performance, Lucas could focus on maintaining a more even pace throughout to optimize his race strategy and potentially break past performances.
