Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Michelle Garratt #2209 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Steadfast on the Course Michelle Garratt from Venice, CA, showed remarkable consistency in the 2025 Vacation Races | Zion Half Marathon. Her pacing was impressively steady, with an overall elapsed time of 2:06:31, covering 13.1 miles at an average pace of 9:39 min/mile. Starting with a 10:08 min/mile pace, she quickly accelerated, clocking in her fastest split between miles 2 and 3 at 9:06 min/mile. It's clear she maintained focus, steadily improving her position from 485th overall to finishing 236th. Her resilience was highlighted in the later miles, maintaining a consistent pace with minor fluctuations. She placed 106th out of all female participants and 24th in her division F25-29. As a member of Team Hedgy, Michelle’s performance was a testament to her training and determination. To challenge those later miles, shifting that extra gear might enhance her strategy, allowing those early paces to hold firm. Well done, Michelle!
