Consistent Performance with Potential for Strategic Pacing Martin maintained an impressive early pace with his mile splits ranging from 7:37 to 7:22 over the first 5 miles. Notably, his fastest split came at mile 7 with a pace of 6:48, demonstrating a solid burst of energy. Through mile 14, Martin kept a pace predominantly below 8 minutes per mile, holding a strong position in his division. His commendable consistency through the halfway mark resulted in 3rd place in the M40-49 division. In the latter part of the marathon, Martin's pace ranged from 8:24 to 10:35 per mile, showing a bit of slowing down. Notably, miles 22 and 23 reflected the most significant drop in performance with split paces of 12:21 and 9:55, respectively. As a coach, exploring pacing strategies for the later miles could help maintain a stronger finish.
