This is my third year running the marathon. Last year my son Brigham was 9 and he started track. He decided to run the last three miles of last year's race with me. We loved crossing the finish line together.

He set a goal that someday he wanted to run a marathon. Little did we know how soon that day would come. He ran all winter and competed in a couple of other races, then he decided that he didn't need to wait until he was older; he could do it now. And he did.

Saturday, September 13th 2014, my 10-year-old son ran 26.2 miles with me in 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 50 seconds. He loved every step. We put his name and age on his t-shirt and everyone in the race (especially the race pacers) cheered him the whole way. He crossed the finish line and felt great.

Later that day he went out and played soccer with friends and the next day said he could only feel anything in his legs if he jerked them straight really hard. We had a great time before, during, and after the race. Thanks for the memories; they will last a lifetime! One question: was the moose put there by the race directors? Because it was too perfectly timed, too close, too perfect.
