Date: Sept. 21, 2025 Participant: Daniel Bocchino #247 Race: 2025 Pikes Peak Marathon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Nice running temperatures. A large snow/hail/rain storm in the late afternoon. Overall it was a great day for a trail run.

Top-three division finish with powerful descent 26.29 miles in 4:55:52 (11:15/mi). Climbed from 6303 ft to 14062 ft, tagging the 13.36-mile summit in 3:14:35. Placed 25 of 918 overall, 23 gender, and 3rd in O25-29. Checkpoints: Barr Camp 1:34:02 (mile 7.91), Bottomless Pit 1:53:00 (mile 8.77), A-Frame 2:18:52 (mile 10.29). Above treeline, paces from A-Frame to summit ranged 15:44 to 20:35. Descent took 1:41:17 (about 7:50/mi), highlighted by 1.86 mi in 11:15 (6:03/mi) and a 0.80-mi finish in 5:02 (6:17/mi). Position improved from 37th at the summit to 25th at the finish. Consider sharpening steady tempo between 12,000 and 14,000 ft and continuing to refine technical downhill efficiency on steep, rough sections.
