Date: Sept. 21, 2025 Participant: Mitch Klomp #147 Race: 2025 Pikes Peak Marathon Marathon Distance: 26.2 miles Weather: Nice running temperatures. A large snow/hail/rain storm in the late afternoon. Overall it was a great day for a trail run.

Second Overall, Fast Descent, Strong Summit Split 4:14:20 for 26.29 miles (9:40 pace), 2nd of 918. Climbed from 6303 ft to 14062 ft by mile 13.36 in 2:35:33 (11:39 pace), then descended in 1:38:47 at 7:39 pace. Jumped from 40th at the start to 2nd by 0.43 miles and held 2nd throughout. Key ascent splits: Barr Camp 1:08:28 at 7.91 mi (9:00 pace segment), A-Frame 1:46:21 at 10.29 mi. Miles 10-13.36 slowed to 13:45-18:23 pace above tree line. Downhill highlights: 1.86 mi at 5:20 pace near 7.8 Summit - Return, 2.85 mi at 6:46 pace to Top of W's - Return, final 0.80 mi at 5:18 pace. Consider targeting the 0.86 mi from Bottomless Pit - Return to Barr Camp - Return (10:53 pace) to gain time, and extending sub-7:00 stretches deeper into the mid-descent.
