Consistent Climb with Strategic Strength Jackson Herndon completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in a commendable 3:12:34, maintaining an average pace of 14:24 minutes per mile. The ascent from 6,000 to over 14,000 feet presented a unique challenge, but Jackson's performance demonstrated resilience and strategic pacing, especially evident in the early part of the race. His initial split to Ruxton was covered in an impressive 2:31, positioning him 15th overall early on. As he progressed, his pace naturally slowed as he navigated steeper inclines and thinner air at higher elevations. The most significant slowdowns occurred in the last 3 miles, above the tree line, with his pace ranging between 19:13 and 21:43 minutes per mile. Despite this, Jackson maintained a good position, finishing 85th overall and 13th in his division. Future training might focus on endurance at high altitudes to further improve his finishing pace.
