Steady Ascent with Strong Finish Dom Heinzeller completed the demanding Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 3:36:55, navigating the 13.36-mile journey with a steady progression. He commenced with an impressive split at Ruxton, clocking an 8:07 pace over the initial 0.43 miles. Despite the challenging elevation gain, Heinzeller maintained a robust performance, consistently placing around the mid-100s cohort and concluding the race in 200th place overall, and 11th in the M45-49 age division. Heinzeller started strongly, showing noteworthy improvement by jumping from 591st place at the starting line to 198th place by Hydro Street. As expected, the final segments presented tougher conditions. The split from A-Frame onwards marked a noticeable slowdown, concluding with a 24:24 pace for the last 0.53 miles. Consider focusing on elevation transitions and pacing strategies closer to the summit to maintain momentum in the final miles.
