Consistent Pace with Strong Finish Mason Whitlock delivered a steady performance in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile course in an elapsed time of 4:50:16 with an average pace of 21:43 minutes per mile. Throughout the race, Mason successfully improved his standing from the starting position of 1510th place overall to finish 870th out of 2049 participants, highlighting a substantial climb of 640 positions. His pace remained consistent, most notably during the early to mid portions of the race. Between the start and the "Top of W's" checkpoint at 3.2 miles, Mason quickened his pace from a 10:48-minute mile to 18:22, climbing in place. Despite the high altitude's impact in the last segments, Mason maintained composure with a notably steady pace above the tree line, concluding with a strong push to the finish. Areas for enhancing future performances could include targeting split pace maintenance in steeper sections above 12,000 feet to optimize time further.
