Strong Finish Despite Altitude Challenges Michael Gleason completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 3:25:16. Starting strong, Michael quickly moved up the field from 281st at the start to finishing in 138th place overall. His average pace throughout the race was 15:21 min/mile, over a distance of 13.36 miles. Notably, in the first mile at Ruxton, his split pace was an impressive 7:51 min/mile, helping him advance substantially in positioning. Key aspects of Michael's performance came in maintaining a steady pace amidst increasing elevation, ultimately reaching a peak elevation of 14,061 feet. Confronted with the toughest segment, the last mile to the 1.5 Miles To Go mark, timing for that portion was 9:03, with split paces noticeably slowing as elevation increased. While his performance was commendable in his O35-39 division, focusing on acclimatization to higher altitudes might improve consistency in pace, particularly in the final challenging segments.
