Improved Finish with Strong Uphill Performance Christopher Nelson, a participant from Woodland Park, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:39:13, an improvement of over 25 minutes from his previous year’s run. His average pace was 20:54 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course, starting at 6303 feet and climbing to 14061 feet. Christopher placed 68th in his division (O45-49) and ranked 554th among 2049 participants in his gender category. Notably, his performance at the start of the race was strong, securing a quick pace of 9:23 min/mile by the Ruxton split. He maintained a steady pace as the terrain became more challenging, efficiently covering the steep ascent to the Top of W's in 48:55. Despite slowing to splits of around 30 min/mile in the last miles above tree line, he maintained a consistent effort and improved his division standing compared to the previous year. Continuing to work on split times in high-elevation sections could further boost his performance.
