Impressive Progression on the Ascent John Garner, 51, from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 4:24:42 over 13.36 miles at an average pace of 19:48 min/mile. Notably, he placed 35th in his division (O50-54) out of 2049 participants. Observing a significant improvement from the previous year, John managed to shave off 20 minutes from his past performance, where he finished in 4:44:43. John's race began with a strong start, maintaining a pace under 10 minutes per mile at the initial split at Ruxton. As expected, the challenging altitude above the tree line influenced his pace, particularly in the final 3 miles, where the pace gradually slowed to over 29 minutes per mile. Despite the natural deceleration, he remained steady and showed exceptional endurance by finishing 35 positions ahead of the previous year in his division. Continuing to build upon this progress could lead to even more significant achievements in future races.
