Consistent Elevation Gains in Pikes Peak Ascent Joseph Teipel, aged 40 from Buena Vista, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 3:54:38, covering 13.36 miles with an average pace of 17:33 min/mile. Notably, Joseph improved his position significantly as the race progressed, starting at position 1308 overall and finishing at position 324 out of 2049 participants. Joseph demonstrated steady progress throughout the ascent, culminating in placing 37th in his age division (O40-44). The early splits show Joseph's pace was established early on, with a swift 9:54 min/mile split at Ruxton and gradually slowing as expected due to the increasing elevation and fatigue. The final section proved demanding, with the pace fluctuating and reaching over 20 min/mile in the last few miles. Despite this, maintaining a controlled pace towards the finish suggests resilience. Incorporating more hill training could further enhance future performances.
