Impressive Pace Improvement on Pikes Peak Ascent James Walton, age 36 from Florida, Missouri, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:08:20, marking a notable improvement over his 2024 performance. James's overall pace was 18:35 min/mile, a significant enhancement from last year's 19:23 min/mile. Despite a field of 2049 runners, he positioned 435th overall and 60th in the O35-39 division. His progress is reflected in his consistent movement from early struggles to strong finishes over several splits. Highlighting his performance, James's start was swift, with a 8:34 min/mile pace over the first 0.43 miles at Ruxton. His pacing was steady, particularly from the "7.8 Summit" at mile 6.05 (pace: 14:54) until "Barr Camp" at mile 7.91. As expected, higher altitudes presented challenges, but James navigated the most demanding section from "A-Frame" onward with determination, maintaining resilience and finishing with a 26:02 min/mile split. Consistent training can further optimize his efforts on this demanding ascent.
