Consistent Performance at Elevation Matt Bown completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 5:45:12, averaging a pace of 25:50 per mile over 13.36 miles. Starting strong, Matt held position 22 in his division O60-64 at the start and maintained his pace through various elevations. His position fluctuated across the course; he maintained middle ranks in the early stages but consistently remained within the top 50 of his division. Noteworthy was Matt's ability to navigate challenging high-altitude segments above the tree line. Particularly, from "A-Frame" to the finish line, his pace adjusted as expected given the steep inclines and elevation gains. In the last few miles, a notable endurance was displayed via a range of paces from 36:23 at "2 Miles To Go" to 51:37 at the final stretch. Besides the slowing pace, Matt's resolve to finish strong was evident and commendable in the challenging conditions.
