Strong Start But Slowed Finish in High Altitudes Ricky Medel, age 47 from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:06:21, covering the 13.36-mile course with a pace of 18:26 minutes per mile. He placed 31st in his division and 417th overall out of 2049 participants. Notable improvements were seen at the "Barr Camp" checkpoint, where Ricky ranked 50th in his division – his highest ranking during the race. Compared to his 2024 performance, Ricky's overall rank fell from 351 to 417 despite similar elapsed times, indicating an overall increase in this year's competitive field. His pace in the final miles above the tree line slowed, especially from the "1 Mile To Go" mark to the finish, where his pace dropped to 24:25 min/mile.
