William's Endurance Shines in High-Altitude Test William Kiely, a 38-year-old runner from Colorado Springs, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in a total time of 5:27:09. This event covers a half marathon distance of 13.36 miles and sees an elevation gain from 6,000 feet to over 14,000 feet. William maintained an overall pace of 24:29 min/mile. Starting with a positive attitude, he climbed steadily from the base at Ruxton, marked by his swift initial split of 4:41 for the first 0.43 miles. Throughout the race, as expected in such high-altitude events, William's pace slowed progressively, with a notably slowest split at "0.5 Miles To Go" section, clocking a 37:11 pace. Despite the challenges, William regained some momentum nearing the end, indicating strong endurance. Interestingly, William improved his division placement significantly around "1.5 Miles To Go," climbing from 142nd to 78th. For future improvements, focusing on the last few miles above the tree line could further enhance performance.
