Improved Pace and Consistent Performance at Altitude Diane Williston from Colorado Springs completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 5:17:45, showing a notable improvement from her previous year's time of 5:25:21. Her average pace improved to 23:47 min/mile from the previous 24:21 min/mile. Diane navigated the course, which ascended from 6303 feet to 14061 feet, with resilience, particularly as she reached higher altitudes in the last three miles. Reviewing her performance, Diane had her fastest early pace at Ruxton with a 9:59 min/mile, maintaining a competitive standing in her division, placing 49th in the F40-44 category. As the altitude increased, her pace varied, peaking at a pace of 35:15 min/mile towards the summit. Diane's ability to manage her pacing and elevation gain, while improving from last year, is commendable. Revisiting the latter miles for potential pacing adjustments could further enhance her performance.
