Steady Ascent Reaches New Heights Royden Shurtz, a 40-year-old runner from Colorado Springs, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 6:39:08. His consistent effort over the 13.36-mile course resulted in an overall pace of 29:52 per mile. Throughout the race, Royden maintained a focused approach, even as the elevation rose significantly from 6,303 feet at the start to 14,061 feet at the finish. The race's demanding elevation gain was reflected in Royden's splits, with notable performance at the initial "Ruxton" split, where he achieved a pace of 11:10 per mile over the first 0.43 miles.
