Steady Progress at Higher Elevations Kimberly Merryman showed notable improvement at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, cutting down her time from the previous year. She completed the half marathon course in 4:37:09, reducing her time by over seven minutes from her 2024 performance. Her average pace improved to 20:44 min/mile from the previous 21:18 min/mile. This progress places her at 22nd in her F40-44 division, up three positions from last year. Although the race's last three miles, featuring high altitudes and steep inclines, led to slower paces, Kimberly managed her pacing effectively. During these sections, her paces hovered around 27-32 min/mile, compared to the start, where she maintained a swift 10:00 min/mile. Her performance during the uphill stretches, especially between "Barr Camp" and the finish, highlights her endurance and strategic pacing. Continuing to balance effort across various elevations could further enhance her future performances.
