Sustained Effort in High Elevation Cassandra Roschen completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with determination, finishing with an elapsed time of 5:56:31 over the course's 13.36 miles. Facing an average pace of 26:41 min/mile, she managed a strong start, placing in the top 125 females from the initial phase. Cassandra's performance ranked her 498th among 2049 total participants, and she achieved 86th place in her F35-39 division. Her splits reveal a significant, yet consistent, slow down as she transitioned to higher altitudes. The initial split from 0.43 to 1.23 miles shifted from a pace of 11:06 to 15:52 min/mile. By the time she approached Barr Camp (mile 7.91), her pace settled around 21:30 min/mile. The most challenging sections showed a split pace increase, peaking at 40:16 min/mile during the final stretch. There's potential to optimize pacing strategies at altitude to maintain efficiency in future high-elevation races.
