Consistent Progress with Strong Finishing Position Gregory Houchins completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with a total time of 5:01:27 over a distance of 13.36 miles, maintaining an elapsed pace average of 22:33 min/mile. Starting at an elevation of 6303 feet, Gregory commenced in 1464th place overall but improved significantly, finishing 1006th among 2049 participants. Notably, he finished 709th among his gender and 115th in his division (ages 30-34), displaying strong competitive standing. Throughout the race, Gregory's progress was evident at the midway point around Barr Camp, where his split pace was 13:22 min/mile, marking a noticeable pick-up in pace from earlier segments. While the final three miles above the tree line saw a considerable drop as expected, Gregory maintained impressive consistency, completing the last 0.5 miles with a split pace of 31:25 min/mile, an improvement over the previous stretch. Focusing on this last section's altitude challenge could lead to better results in future races.
