Consistency in Progression Despite Altitude Challenges John Hostetler participated in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:35:13. He maintained a steady pace, averaging 20:36 per mile. Initially starting strong, John held the first position in his division at the start line. His pace during the first split at Ruxton was 9:19 min/mile, showing potential for speed early in the race. As the race progressed, John's pace adjusted with the increasing altitude, showing a predictable slowing pattern especially after Barr Camp. Notably, the highest elevation point was at the finish line, situated at 14,061 feet. John showed perseverance throughout the ascent and finished 22nd in his division (O55-59), out of 2049 total participants. Focusing on maintaining efficiency in those final miles above the treeline could further enhance future performance. His consistent improvement in pacing strategy from previous segments is commendable.
