Strong Finish Despite Altitude Challenge Elaine Earle completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 5:14:58, covering a distance of 13.36 miles with an average pace of 23:34 min/mile. Amongst a total of 2,049 participants, she secured 1127th place overall, and ranked 23rd in the F50-54 division. Impressively, she maintained a consistent performance, initially achieving a promising pace of 10:05 min/mile at the Ruxton split. As the elevation reached 14,061 feet at the finish, split times understandably increased. The section from Barr Camp to Bottomless Pit showed a pace decrease to 39:36 min/mile. Final splits, particularly "1 Mile To Go" to "Finish," saw elevations above 13,000 feet, with split paces over 30 min/mile. Elaine successfully handled the altitude, improving her place within her division from 26th at the 10.29-mile point to 23rd by the finish. Focus on high-altitude adaptations could enhance performance for future events.
