Steady Climb and Consistent Improvement David Havlick, 60, from Colorado Springs, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 3:35:48. He covered 13.36 miles with an average pace of 16:09 min/mile, consistent with last year’s performance of 16:16 min/mile. David showed notable improvement, claiming 2nd place in his O60-64 division, compared to 4th in the M55-59 division in 2024. The competition saw a slight increase in participants, from 1,996 in 2024 to 2,049 in 2025. David started strong, with an initial split pace of 8:05 min/mile for the first 0.43 miles at Ruxton. He maintained a solid pace through Hydro Street, hitting a fastest segment pace of 9:40 min/mile. His pacing in the final segments showed the expected increase in elapsed time per mile as elevation increased. Focusing attention on maintaining pacing consistency through high altitudes could yield more efficient results in future elevations.
