Significant Improvement and Consistent Effort on Challenging Course Nicholas Sonnier demonstrated impressive progress in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, completing the 13.36-mile course in 4:21:36 with an average pace of 19:34 min/mile. Compared to his 6:17:10 finish in 2024, he achieved more than a 2-hour improvement. He began the ascent powerfully, reaching the Top of W's in 23:44, maintaining first place overall at this early stage. His strong start positions him as a competitive runner in his age division. Throughout the race, Nicholas managed the increasing altitude and challenging slope, moving from 73rd to a commendable 73rd place in his division. Noteworthy is his performance above the tree line, where he maintained a consistent pace despite increasing difficulty. Speed consistency and endurance shine in splits leading up to A-Frame, peaking early before the most challenging elevations. Focus for future races might include refining pacing after Barr Camp to optimize energy conservation for the final miles above 12,000 feet.
