Strong Start, Challenge at High Elevation Steven Wrona completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 4:42:48, running a total distance of 13.36 miles with an average pace of 21:10 min/mile. Starting strong, Steven reached Ruxton at a quick pace of 8:34 min/mile over the first 0.43 miles, temporarily earning him a position as the 423rd runner overall. The initial ascent saw a decent pace, maintaining positions within the mid-500s to low 700s until reaching Barr Camp (mile 7.91) with a pace of 13:13 min/mile. In the last three miles, Steven faced an understandable deceleration, especially in the steep sections above the tree line. The split to Bottomless Pit showed a considerable pace change to 34:37 min/mile. Upon finishing, he ranked 794th overall out of 2049 participants, with his division rank at 96. Consider evaluating ascension techniques for high-altitude segments, where the greater slowdown was noted, to maintain momentum in future runs.
