Steady Progress in High Altitude Challenge Colin Wynd completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 4:22:57, covering 13.36 miles. His average pace was 19:40 min/mile, finishing 16th in his O60-64 division out of 2049 participants. Although his time was slightly slower than his previous year’s result of 4:19:55, the consistency in his placement within his age division highlights a solid performance. Key observations indicate a strategic and balanced approach. His initial split at Ruxton was clocked at 10:05 min/mile, showing a strong start. As expected, the ascent’s difficulty increased, with pacing slowing to 27:37 min/mile by the finish. Notably, Colin improved his overall space from 889th at the start to 579th by the finish. Focus could be placed on maintaining pace in the final miles, particularly from the 1-Mile-To-Go marker, where the pace slowed to 28:46 min/mile. This area presents a potential opportunity for future gains.
