Solid Climb with Strong Age Group Rank In the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, Joe Waugh from Tipton, OK, completed the half marathon with an elapsed time of 5:20:25, finishing 13.36 miles with an average pace of 23:59 min/mile. Joe ranked 39th in his division (O60-64) out of many competitors, an impressive feat given the elevation gain from 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet. Noteworthy moments include a standout segment from "Hydro Street" to "Top of W's," where Joe improved his rank, moving from 51st to 52nd and then jumped to 44th by "7.8 Summit." These early gains in positioning indicate solid pacing strategy. The latter part of the race showed a gradual slow-down with the highest split pace recorded at "1 Mile To Go" to "Finish" being 37:58. Working on maintaining a steady pace in the latter miles could aid in improvement.
