Strong Start with Consistent Pace Uphill Cody Ernst from Colorado Springs completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 4:28:59, covering a total distance of 13.36 miles. His initial pace at Ruxton was a swift 10:43 min/mile but as expected, the ascent presented increasing challenges. By the halfway point at Barr Camp, his pace shifted to 16:45 min/mile, reflecting the climb to over 10,000 feet and sustained effort. Overall, Cody managed a consistent strategy, balancing speed and endurance throughout his ascent to the summit. Notably, he improved position significantly in several sections. Starting at 1679th overall, he advanced to 577th at the 0.5 Miles To Go mark, before finishing 639th overall. Demonstrating resilience, Cody’s splits during the final 1.5 miles, all above 13,000 feet elevation, showed the typical slowing, culminating in a split pace of 30:34 min/mile over the final stretch. Focusing on late-stage efforts could further enhance future performances on high-elevation terrain.
