Steady Progression with Consistent Effort Allan James completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with a total time of 4:47:04, covering 13.36 miles at an average pace of 21:29 min/mile. Notably, Allan started strong, moving from a beginning placement of 1258 to 449 by the first checkpoint at Ruxton (0.43 miles), clocking a swift 8:40 min/mile pace. As expected, the increased elevation gradually impacted his pace. Allan managed to maintain his tempo despite the challenges posed by an ascent from 6,303 feet to a peak elevation of 14,061 feet. Allan's race saw fluctuations with a commendable steady effort. His placement improved to 399 at the "1.5 Miles To Go" mark before settling at 834 overall among 2049 participants at the finish. He showed determination, moving confidently through each split, including the final 0.53 miles at a pace of 32:22 min/mile. A focus on pacing strategies for high elevation segments may benefit future races.
