Consistent Improvement in Tough Conditions Kyra Shimizu, age 64 from Superior, CO, demonstrated notable progress during her 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent performance, improving her elapsed time to 5:06:51 compared to last year's 5:21:42. Over the 13.36-mile course, she maintained an elapsed pace of 22:58 min/mile, a significant improvement from her previous 24:04 min/mile pace. Kyra placed 9th in the F60-64 division, an improvement from 14th place last year, indicating advancement in her division ranking. Analyzing her splits, Kyra's strongest segment came early on at "Ruxton," where she achieved a 10:48 min/mile split pace. Despite the altitude challenges, she consistently climbed the rank in her division, ultimately finishing 312th in the Female category, ascending from last year’s position of 326th. However, maintaining pace in the latter sections with high altitudes like the final stretch at "1 Mile To Go" could further elevate her future race performance. Her upward trajectory is evident and commendable.
