Consistent Improvement Despite Altitude Challenges Adam Madison, racing in the Open division, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 6:12:19, showing a slight improvement from his previous year's time of 6:13:36. Covering a distance of 13.36 miles, Adam maintained an overall pace of 27:52 min/mile, marginally faster than his 2024 pace by 5 seconds per mile. Notably, Adam placed 971st in the gender category and 144th in his age division (30-34), out of 2049 total participants. Examining Adam's split data, the challenge was evident in the final stages above the tree line. For instance, from 11.84 to 13.36 miles, on a slope from 13,024 to over 14,000 feet elevation, he managed to maintain a consistent pace around 38 min/mile, slightly improving his previous segments. Highlighting areas for improvement, Adam's time between the "2.5 Miles To Go" and "Finish" checkpoints indicates an opportunity to target acceleration in future races.
