Steady Progress with Strong Finish Above Tree Line Jane Henderson tackled the Pikes Peak Ascent at a steady pace, completing the race in 4:45:36. She maintained an average pace of 21:22 minutes per mile over the 13.36-mile challenging uphill run. Starting from an elevation of 6,303 feet, she moved up in placement throughout, showing significant improvement by the time she reached Barr Camp at 7.91 miles, where she held a strong place in her division. Notably, her climb beyond the tree line, from A-Frame (11933 feet) to the finish at 14061 feet, was completed with focused tenacity. During the race, Jane improved her division place from 88th at the start to finish in 45th position—a notable achievement in her age group. Despite the increasing difficulty, including the steep ascent and thinner air above the tree line, her times per split remained consistent, rounding out the final three miles with sequential placings in her division, indicating a controlled and paced finish.
