Consistent Effort in the High Altitudes Marc Straniere completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:43:49. Starting strong, Marc was in the top 77 of his division a third of the way through the race, showcasing his determination in the early miles. His overall placement at the finish was 809 out of 2049 participants. Despite facing the physically demanding environment at high altitudes, he maintained a consistent pace, with his most challenging mile being at the one-mile-to-go mark, where the pace slowed to 32:07 min/mile. Marc demonstrated a strategic approach, showing a significant learning curve by maintaining composure and focusing on pacing over the distance. He did start in a stronger position early on, as seen by initial places - 62nd in the division at the start and 73 at No Name Creek. Utilizing this data, Marc can prepare targeted altitude training to potentially minimize time losses in the final challenging miles.
