Steady Ascent Above the Tree Line Morgan Chilton tackled the Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:44:26, maintaining a consistent pace in the challenging upper altitudes. Starting off with a strong pace of 10:11 min/mile at the Ruxton split over the initial 0.43 miles, Morgan quickly advanced through early placements, notably moving up from 1693rd to 1071st overall. By Hydro Street, her strategy yielded strong results as she placed better in her gender and division, climbing to 44th in the F25-29 category. The race's later stages revealed the mountain’s impact. Despite the increasing altitude over 13,000 feet, Morgan kept a determined rhythm through the final splits, culminating in a solid finish at 31st place in her division F25-29. The last three miles above tree line displayed perseverance with a split pace of 31:00 min/mile to finish. Further focus on maintaining pace in these later parts of the race could strengthen future performances.
