Strong Steady Climb Amidst the Peaks Frank Varga, age 41 from Arvada, achieved a finish time of 3:53:11 in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, covering a distance of 13.36 miles. His consistent effort placed him 312th overall among 2049 participants. Frank's average pace was 17:27 minutes per mile. During the initial split to Ruxton, he impressively clocked a pace of 7:41 min/mile, indicating a strong start. However, as the elevation increased, pacing slowed as expected, particularly in the challenging final miles above the tree line. Notably, Frank maintained his division standing, finishing 36th in the O40-44 category. While his split pace evolved, he showcased resilience, consistently climbing in place, moving from 121st in his division at the start to finish in the top 18%. His strategic pacing from Barr Camp to the A-Frame demonstrated endurance at high elevation, where the split pace ranged from 19:20 to 22:54 min/mile. Continued focus on altitude training could further enhance his performance.
