Consistent Effort in High Altitude Aitana Ignes-Romeu, 25, from Boulder, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:29:38. Starting strong, she managed a split pace of 9:26 at Ruxton (0.43 miles) and maintained a steady pace up to Top of W's (3.2 miles) at 17:24 min/mile. During ascents, such as at Barr Camp (7.91 miles), her pace stayed consistent at 17:15 min/mile. Aitana ranked 23rd in her F25-29 division. The final miles above the tree line, Aitana showed determination despite slowing. Most notably, from "1 Mile To Go", the split pace was 27:49 min/mile, and concluded with a 29:05 min/mile pace at the finish line at 14061 feet elevation. Her ability to maintain composure and fullness of effort in the highest segments suggests a solid approach to endurance. Future preparations could emphasize pacing strategies for the latter stages to mitigate high-altitude impact.
