Consistent Effort with Strong Mid-Race Performance Colin McAfee completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 5:22:55, achieving an average pace of 24:10 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. Starting at 6,303 feet, Colin quickly settled into a strong pace, gaining 938 places from the Start to Ruxton. His standout performance was noted early on, as he was in 666th place by the 0.43-mile mark with a pace of 9:18 min/mile. Colin showed endurance with a 1:50:36 split at the 6.05-mile mark and maintained a steady rhythm, particularly noteworthy at No Name Creek and Barr Camp, with split paces of 20:40 and 19:25, respectively. The challenging final miles saw a natural slowdown, notable at A-Frame with a pace of 31:06. Dedicated pacing adjustments in the later stages, peaking at a 34:53 final mile, suggest excellent high-altitude management. A focused approach in future ascents may optimize performance through decisive points in the race.
