Steady Progress and Strong Finish at Heightened Elevations Ashley Copeland exhibited noticeable improvements in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon. She completed the race in 4:38:33, shaving off almost 7 minutes from her 2024 performance. Her average pace also improved to 20:50 min/mile from her previous pace of 21:22 min/mile. Notably, she climbed the ranks in her age division, finishing 23rd, rising from 26th last year. Analyzing the split data, initial segments showed strong paces, with particularly notable transition from Ruxton (split pace of 9:49 min/mile) to Hydro Street (split pace of 12:12 min/mile). The altitude above the 10-mile mark undeniably played a role in the slowdown, as evidenced by the 27:11 min/mile pace from "A-Frame". However, Ashley demonstrated determination with a robust finish, climbing several positions in the final stretch. Focus on maintaining early split efficiencies can further improve future performances on similar challenging courses.
