Impressive Progress with Significant Time Reduction Luke Shanahan completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 3:28:46, improving significantly from last year’s time of 4:14:13 in the same race. The overall pace was 15:37 min/mile, with the most challenging sections seeing a slower pace as expected. Throughout the race, Luke moved steadily upward from starting positions, going from an initial place of 1170 to finish 151st overall. Significant improvements are noted in middle sections such as the 10:45 min/mile split pace at Hydro Street, and consistency in pacing helped to maintain placement. The end segments, with elevations peaking at 14,061 feet, had understandably slower splits, with the final 0.5-mile pace at 20:13. As a highlight, surpassing other runners over the difficult last mile shows strength and potential for pushing limits further. Continuing to focus on maintaining an appreciable pace in initial segments could bolster overall performance even further.
