Significant Improvement in Challenging Conditions Sam Flukey demonstrated a marked improvement in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, reducing his overall elapsed time to 6:06:29 from the previous year's 7:12:09. This represents an impressive uptick in performance with a new pace of 27:25 minutes per mile, as opposed to the prior 32:20 minutes per mile. Sam finished 1487th out of 2049 participants, climbing significantly from the 1536th place finish the year before. In his division of M35-39, Sam placed 154th, an improvement of three spots. Throughout the race, Sam managed to maintain consistency in the early stages but faced challenges as he progressed beyond No Name Creek at around 4.48 miles, where he started to slow down noticeably. The steep increase in elevation, peaking at 14,061 feet, seemed to particularly impact his splits after the 11-mile mark. His split times notably increased beyond Bottomless Pit, which is something to work on in the future as he builds on the solid foundation of this year's performance.
