Exemplary Performance with Age Division Victory Mark Tatum completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 3:38:31, covering 13.36 miles. His average pace was 16:21 min/mile, which secured him the first place in the O65-69 division. Notably, Mark's strongest sections were between "Top of W's" and "Barr Camp," where he maintained a sub-15 min/mile pace, reaching No Name Creek in 54:56 and holding the first division spot consistently throughout. Compared to his performance in the 2024 Pikes Peak Ascent, Mark's elapsed time increased by approximately 21 minutes. The reduced pace, particularly visible in the last segment from "1 Mile To Go" to the finish, saw his pace drop to just under 23:28 min/mile. While the course elevation from 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet posed significant challenges, especially in the final miles, maintaining a focus on the split strategy during these sections could be beneficial in future races.
