Impressive Elevation Gains and Consistent Effort Cristian Vasquez demonstrated strong pacing strategies at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, finishing with an elapsed time of 3:20:17 over the 13.36-mile course with an average pace of 14:59 per mile. Starting at an elevation of approximately 6303 feet, Cristian's ascent to 14061 feet was both strategic and impressive. Notably, Cristian improved his standing from 282nd at the start to 119th by the finish, showcasing a sustained and steady effort throughout the race. Cristian’s split performance was notably robust early on, with an exceptional 7:04 per mile pace recorded between the start and the first split at Ruxton. Despite the natural slowdown expected at higher altitudes and varying split paces, Cristian maintained strong position improvements, notably moving from 75th overall at the Top of W's to a consistent 103rd by the A-Frame checkpoint. Future efforts could focus on sustaining mid-race pacing as fatigue sets in, particularly from 7.91 to 10.29 miles, to capitalize on even better overall positioning.
